7 Island Wonders of the World. Like Komodo Island is the New 7 Wonders of The World, from the biggest and greatest to the most remote, mysterious and lethal and less populated islands here are seven amazing worldwide.

Pitcairn Islands is best known for being home to the descendants of the HMS Bounty mutineers and the Tahitians who accompanied them, an event retold in numerous books and movies. Due to internal strife, hunger and disease, many of the initial complement of the island died. Today, Pitcairn has only 50 inhabitants (from nine families) and is also notable for being the least populated jurisdiction in the world. The wreck of the HMS Bounty is still visible underwater off the coast of the main inhabited island, and the descendants of Tahiti / Europe speak a single language: a blend of Tahitian and English known as Pitkern.

Palmyra is the ultimate combination of classic stereotypes Island. It is at once a sort of desert island paradise, and a mysterious source of superstition. Its long history includes strange buried pirate treasure, tragic deaths, shipwrecks, military use and abandonment and a recent grizzly double murder of a couple on holiday. Bishop Rock in the Guinness Book of World Records the world's smallest island. An amazing lighthouse, built in 1858, is the only thing that is on this small island off the coast of Britain. The first lighthouse built on the island was destroyed before it could complete. The current lighthouse has survived the currents and winds of more than a century. In historical times, the condemned were bread and water on the island to die.

Nauru is the smallest of the independent island in the world. This Pacific island is only 8 square kilometers and is the third smallest country in the world along with Monaco and Vatican City. Once your natural reserves of phosphate is depleted, the island once a rich first a haven for money laundering and then had to ask for help from Australia. The island has become a way station for asylum seekers who seek to enter the land Down Under.

Dubai is home to an ever more impressive infamous man-made islands, by far the largest in the world. 'd Almost have to be living on an island to oneself has not seen or heard of this project. These islands, as everything from a palm to the world itself, constitute the most massive earth moving operation of all time. Dubai has acknowledged that oil, its source of wealth will only last for a long time. With islands like these and a thriving tourist industry around there is no doubt that Dubai will survive its oil supplies.
